With a need to modernise its IT estate, Elexon required help executing a digital cloud-based transformation programme that would support the company’s rapidly changing regulatory environment. Credera brought in several experts to provide the necessary assurance across a range of specialist subjects. The Challenge

Programme assurance and strategic guidance of business-critical digital transformation programme.

A fast-changing regulatory system needs a cloud-based solution with a greater flexibility and scalability. For ELEXON to get to this future-proof target state, they needed to modernise their IT estate and rebuild their operational processes.

The Board at ELEXON decided that external independent assurance of the programme with expert insight would add value and help reassure key stakeholders.

The Solution

Casting an experienced eye over the programme and identifying actionable recommendations.

ELEXON stated that the in-depth expertise and experience of our consultants was key in providing the quality assurance and guidance needed to take this project forward.
Our multi-skilled team of consultants analysed and made recommendations on the following areas:

•  Programme governance
•  Programme management
•  Technical architecture and design
•  Vendor performance
•  Agile delivery approach
•  Code quality
•  Risk management
•  Sourcing strategy
•  Communications to the electricity market
•  Programme organisation and structure
•  Status reporting by the vendor

The Results

A qualified and improved programme plan, delivery, and sourcing approach.

We reviewed the key outputs, including programme documents, plans, capability, capacity, architecture, and code, and interviewed programme staff to identify any concerns with the approach.

Based on these inputs, we provided reports containing pragmatic observations and recommendations which were then discussed with the programme leadership and vendors before being presented to the ELEXON Board.

This helped set the mission-critical digital transformation programme on the road to success.
