Chris Lewisthe leader of our engineering capability and recent father, answers our staff questions to give a better understanding of Credera’s culture. 

What attracted you to Credera?

I had the pleasure of working with, and for, Credera people on client site whilst with my previous employer. It was immediately obvious to me that there was something special about Credera from how those staff lead teams, how they solved problems and, above all, the outstanding reputation they had earned with our mutual client. So when I started looking somewhere smaller to work, that experience and Credera’s Great Place to Work Award made it an easy decision. After getting my offer here, I’ve never looked back.

What’s your favourite thing about working for Credera?

Credera is truly a place where people are empowered to get things done. I’ve been involved in a number of major internal changes in my time with the company, and I’ve always felt that the teams I’ve worked in have been given everything – financial or otherwise – they need to be successful. If you need something to do a great job, then my experience is you’ll get it.

What’s your favourite benefit that we offer?

Our social events are second to none, and you really feel that everyone gets to share in the firm’s success through them. We have a brilliant team that pull out all the stops to create amazing events and make everyone feel welcome when they come along, even if that’s before you’ve officially joined the company!

How has Credera helped you grow in your professional career?

As a deep technologist with a passion for consulting as well as hands-on technical work, Credera’s flexible, low-bureaucracy environment has enabled me to carve a bespoke career path where I’ve not had to choose between the things I love doing. I’ve been able to embrace my technical side on client site and internally, whilst continuing to develop my consulting and commercial skills through great mentorship from non-technical leaders. I’ve now been given the privilege of helping make Credera a place where full-time engineers can benefit from the same experience.

What advice would you give recent hires?

Credera is the perfect place to embrace your entrepreneurial side and turn your ideas into reality. If you have an idea, you can use our internal social media to create a buzz and to grow a community of interest, and then it won’t be long before there’s some real investment available to take your concept to our clients. 

What are your hopes for our industry?

I’m excited about how automation is creeping into every aspect of business. My hope is that IT disciplines that have historically been very reliant on manual, point-in-time reviews by humans will be transformed by automated testing and verification, enabling businesses to move much faster, especially in heavily-regulated and compliance-heavy environments.
