David Moss, a consultant who has just returned from a sabbatical, answers our staff questions to give a better understanding of Credera’s culture.
What attracted you to Credera?
The opportunity to work with and learn from the very best technical consultants in the industry and the prospect of applying myself to solve complex technical projects attracted me to Credera. In addition, the company culture of being technically curious, being pragmatic, honest and always striving to “do the right thing” really aligned with my way of thinking.
What’s an average day at Credera for you?
Each day is different, but usually I’m out on client site striving to identify, resolve or present the ever changing technical risks and opportunities that may distract or benefit a programme goal. This could involve reviewing technical documentation, leading a workshop, presenting programme plans, questioning the unknowns or just being a good technical person to bounce ideas off.
What’s your favourite thing about working for Credera?
The people I work alongside and work for! Everyone is treated equally and as an individual, which transcends to a happy, motivated family of consultants. There is a genuine pleasure when celebrating each person’s success, be it work or family life, which has led to very strong friendships and high morale.
What’s your favourite benefit that we offer?
Tough question! The 5-a-side football, chocolate draw, monthly company socials and £2000 training budget rank highly, but being granted a sabbatical to tick off personal life goals has to be my number 1 benefit. The leadership team took the time to understand my ask, worked quickly to make it a reality, accepted my 1 month extension from the Galapagos and were equally delighted when I returned – for this I am ever grateful!
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
Problem solving – finding the solution to a difficult or complex issue provides pure enjoyment and satisfaction. Often this involves communicating with technical and non-technical people, researching technical solutions, cross-verifying solutions and presenting feedback to senior stakeholders in a time-pressured environment.
What advice would you give recent hires?
Engage with everyone, attend social events, challenge yourself and others and come to work with a smile – you’ve been selected to work at one of the very best companies in the UK! Most importantly, if you believe something can be enhanced, or isn’t right, let someone know. We are a friendly bunch of people!
