Meet our intern: Noor Farooq

In July 2022, we welcomed our next cohort of interns to Credera's UK offices. We caught up with intern Noor Farooq to learn about her experience of working with us.

Tell us a little bit about your background. What were you doing before starting your internship with Credera?

I am currently an undergraduate student at City University of London, studying Financial Economics. I have just finished my second year and am preparing to enter my final year.

What made you decide to apply for an internship with Credera?

I was looking to spend my summer expanding my knowledge and wanted to explore different business areas. During my research, I came across consulting and wanted to gain a deeper understanding of what it involved and learn about the different functions. When I came across Credera, I found that they had a practice for data consultants, which is something I had been interested in prior to my research.

What most excites you about your internship with us?

Before joining, I was most looking forward to gaining exposure to different business operations as well as getting insight into what consultants do. I was very eager to be in a working environment where I would get to work towards a goal, contribute to a team, and be challenged through daily tasks. I am happy to say that I have gained insights into the different sides of consulting and have had the opportunity to work with data consultants and learn how their roles can differ.

What do you think was your most significant accomplishment whilst working at Credera?

My most significant accomplishment would have to be the tasks I carried out and contributed towards. The most notable challenge that I faced was my work within the Marketing team, where I had to re-illustrate Credera’s values. It was an exciting project as I had to use my creative skills and competitor research to deliver the task. I also carried out research tasks for the Data and MarTech teams, which were quite fulfilling as they contributed to what the corresponding teams were delivering to clients.

What are your goals for the future?

After this internship, I now have a more rounded understanding of technology and data and I have been interested in seeing how they are applied within consulting. I am hoping to expand my skillset in the data field, starting by deepening my knowledge in AI and machine learning languages such as Dataiku and SQL. Having worked with Credera, I would definitely be interested in working with them in the future as I feel it is a place I can continue to learn and grow.

In your own words, how would you describe Credera’s culture?

When I applied for the internship, I remember what stood out as one of the greatest aspects of Credera’s culture was the people. Having completed my internship, I can say that this is very much true. From the first day I started, people were very generous, friendly, and welcoming. Many employees have taken time out of their days to catch up with the interns and have always been willing to provide any support or advice along the way. I found that any time I expressed a slight concern or interest in a function, Credera addressed this and tailored my intern experience to help fulfil my needs.

How would you describe your overall experience of interning with Credera?

Overall, my experience with Credera has been gratifying, providing me with more insight into the working world and allowing me to grow my interest in what I would like to do post-university. As a result of this internship, I feel that I have improved on my communication and team skills and have built long-lasting connections. I am very grateful to have been given a chance to complete an internship with Credera and want to thank everyone for making it an enjoyable experience!
