Introducing the AI Global Council: Vincent Yates

Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the world at warp speed. Impacts are felt in business, education, government, and everything in between. That’s why the AI Global Council was formed. This group of leaders from varied backgrounds and experiences has united to think through the implications of advancing AI technologies, policies, and ethics.

Each AI Global Council member brings a unique and necessary point of view to the conversation. Today, we’re introducing Vincent Yates, chief data scientist at Credera.

Yates’ one thing on AI

We asked each of the AI Global Council board members to share one piece of advice in the AI space. Yates’ recommendation was to have fun with AI!

“Remember, it’s supposed to be exciting!” Yates said. “There’s a lot of opportunity, and a lot of challenges to be solved. But at the end of the day, if we’re not having fun, we’re not going to do a great job.”

A little about Yates

Yates is Chief Data Scientist and a Partner at Credera, joining the firm’s leadership team in 2019. His work focuses on data science and strategy, with the goal of bringing data and data science to solve client problems in novel ways and unlocking new potential.

Prior to joining Credera, Vincent worked as Chief Data Scientist for GE Digital where his team focused on leveraging industrial Internet of Things (IoT) to reduce costs, increase revenue, and reduce risk for industrial customers. Previously he was the Director of Analytics Engineering for Zillow Group where his team was charged with ensuring the trustworthiness of the data that powers Zillow from products like the Zestimate to marketing and sales data. Vincent joined Zillow from Uber, where he was the Head of Data Science in Seattle leading half a dozen different products including: UberFamily, Scheduled Rides, Airports and Venues. He has also led teams at Microsoft and Yammer.
